Sue Linstrom

ACCREDITED MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER

BSW; MAASW

Sue is an accredited mental health social worker with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and their families across educational and community settings. She brings extensive expertise in assessment, counselling, and therapeutic intervention for clients navigating a range of emotional, social, and behavioural challenges. Sue has a particular interest in working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, low mood, school refusal, emotional dysregulation, behavioural concerns, and difficulties adjusting to change.

Having worked within school settings for many years, Sue has a deep understanding of the social and academic pressures young people face and is a strong advocate for their wellbeing. Warm, authentic, and person-centred, she strives to create a safe and supportive environment where her clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and self-compassion.

Sue draws on a range of evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and psychoeducation. She thoughtfully applies these methods through creative, developmentally attuned, play-based strategies to enhance engagement, build rapport, and support the unconscious processing of emotions.

With a strong commitment to a systemic approach, Sue works closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure a shared understanding and a coordinated response to mental health challenges. She is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections, believing that trust and genuine relationships form the foundation for effective therapy and lasting change.

Sue has completed specialised mental health training and supervised practice to achieve accreditation as a mental health social worker and is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
